Kolkata: The West Bengal government will announce its decision on BJP’s ‘Rath Yatra’ on Friday.
Reports said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is all set to announce her decision on the impending rath yatra to be led by BJP president Amit Shah.
It may be recalled that the Calcutta High Court on 7 December had come down heavily on the West Bengal government for not responding to the letters sent by the BJP seeking permission for its ‘rath yatras’ in the state.
The BJP said the ‘rath yatra’ programme continue in West Bengal. The party, however, said the programme will start after getting permission from the state government.
Meanwhile, the BJP had met state government officials including Chief Secretary Malay Dey, Home Secretary Atri Bhattacharya and state Director General of Police Virendra at the Kolkata Police headquarters on Thursday on the matter.
