Sonepur: In a commendable job, Sonepur Police with their active response and quick action successfully investigated and cracked two cases in less than 48 hours.
Addressing a presser organised at the Office of the Superintendent of Police here today, SP Debi Prasad Das informed the mediapersons that they have solved a murder case and a temple loot case.
According to reports, on August 22, a youth, Jadumani Bhue (20), a resident of Jamchappar village, who was working as a driver in Brajabhumi Rice Mill here was rescued in a critical condition from Umashankar Dhaba. Though he was rushed to the district headquarters hospital, the doctors declared him ‘dead upon arrival’.
Initially, a case of unnatural death was registered in this regard. However, the family member brought murder allegation. Based on the complaint, a probe was launched and it was ascertained that on Thursday, Jadumani and his friend Tilu had come to the eatery. Later, Jadumani entered into a heated argument with a worker of the eatery over delay in serving food.
In a fit of rage, the worker, identified as Sushanta Guru, attacked Jadumani with a sharp rod used for cooking purpose. The victim sustained critical injuries on the left side of his chest and nose. He was rushed to the hospital in a profusely bleeding condition but he succumbed to the fatal injuries before he could receive treatment, the police said.
Sonepur IIC Lokeshwar Sahu was the investigating officer of the case. The accused Sushanta Guru, a resident of Kutasira village under Tarabha block in this district, has been arrested and the sharp rod used in the crime also recovered, the police further informed.
In another case, the police said that they have arrested two brothers-Mahadev Thappa and Krushna Thappa (24), of Dhibarapada in Sonepur, on charges of looting the donation box (hundi) of Maa Sureswari temple. Around Rs 1140 and a lock breaking tool has been seized from the accused siblings. The loot case is being investigated by ASI SK Panigrahi, the police added.
