Second Brahmani bridge: Protest over land acquisition, 8 detained


Rourkela: Tension prevailed in Rourkela after locals of Dandiapalli area took to the streets to protest acquisition of land for the construction of second Brahmani bridge.

According to sources, demanding more money for the land, the displaced families resorted to the protest and attempted to disrupt the process of land acquisition for the approach road meant for the second Brahmani bridge.

While the situation went out of control, cops rushed to the spot and detained at least eight persons for protesting at the spot.

Following this, at least seven platoons of police have been deployed to avoid any untoward situation, sources said.
