Season’s first swine flu case detected in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: The first swine flu case of the season was reported on Sunday in the state after the swab sample of a woman tested positive for H1N1 virus.

The patient from Nachuni in Khurda district complained of cold and cough, following she was admitted to a private hospital here. Suspecting H1N1 virus infection, the swab was sent for tests. The tests conducted at Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), later confirmed the infection.

The doctors are yet to find out how the 23-year-old woman got infected since she has no travel history

Last year, around 400 cases were tested positive out of which as many as 50 deaths were confirmed due to H1N1 virus infection.
