RMRC fraud: EOW arrests 4 for embezzling Rs 1.22cr
Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch arrested four persons for allegedly misappropriating Central Government fund to the tune of Rs 1.22 crores from Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) in Bhubaneswar.
The accused were identified as Pandu Ranga Rao of Visakhapatnam, Achyutananda Das of Bhadrak, Ranjit Kumar Sarangi of Ganjam and Vinod Kumar Singh of Mumbai. All were suppliers of RMRC of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Earlier, another accused, identified as Dilip Kumar Mohanty, who was working as a steno in the RMRC was arrested and forwarded on March 28, 2016 in connection with the case.
According to reports, Dilip along with four other accused persons, by producing false documents had misappropriated the Centre’s money to the tune of Rs 1.22 crores from RMRC.
The arrest was made on the basis of complaint lodged by RMRC Administrative Officer in connection with the case. The accused persons have been forwarded to the Bhubaneswar SDJM court while further investigations are underway, a EOW release stated.
