Ragging in Ravenshaw University: Six students suspended for one semester, asked to vacate hostel

Cuttack: Six students of Ravenshaw University were suspended for a semester, till January 2020, and had their hostel room allotment cancelled for allegedly ragging a junior hostel inmate.

The decision was taken on Monday following an anti-ragging committee meeting called by the Vice-Chancellor of the varsity, Ishan Patro.

The accused students have been identified as Plus III second-year student, Bikash Mohapatra, Jagdish Mishra, Debi Prasad Behera, Pritam Mohapatra, Amashree P Usha and third-year student Kamalalochana Dash.

The complaint was raised by a first-year Plus III Physics student Anubhab Bhuyan.

The Plus III 1st Year student of Ravenshaw University lodged a complaint near the Vice-Chancellor of the varsity after being ragged by the senior students.

The matter was then probed by both the anti-ragging and the disciplinary committees.
