Pangolin smuggling racket busted in Mayurbhanj, six held

Mayurbhanj: Forest department officials on Monday busted a pangolin smuggling racket with the arrest of six traders from two villages in Udala area of Mayurbhanj district.

The identities of the arrested persons were not known immediately.

Acting on a tip-off about a deal, a team of forest department personnel conducted raids at Balichatra and Bundagadi villages this morning. During the search operations, police arrested as many as six persons from the villages. Besides, police have also seized scales of three pangolins.

A case has been registered against the accused persons under relevant Sections of the IPC and forwarded to court, said sources.
