Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said the Odisha government is fully prepared to tackle the effect of very severe cyclonic storm ‘Bulbul’.
The Odisha CM, who is on a visit to New Delhi to review some pending projects with the Centre, said “We are fully prepared for the cyclone. We are expecting some heavy rains in the coastal districts.”
Besides, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena has said the districts’ administration are well-prepared as some of the coastal districts have started receiving moderate rainfall since Friday evening.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and fire service personnel in nine districts has been deployed as a precautionary measure, SRFC Jena said adding that the Collectors/DMs have also been asked to evacuate people in low lying areas, if required and also provided food to the people at the shelter.
The SRC further informed that some fishermen of West Bengal have reached the Odisha coast at Dhamra as they failed return their native place due to heavy wind speed. They will be provided shelter and food, he added.
Reportedly, the NDRF has pressed in a total of 34 teams in West Bengal and Odisha in view of the approaching severe cyclone Bulbul. NDRF Director General S N Pradhan informed that the teams are prepared to tackle any situation.
