Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday declared not to celebrate his 74th birthday expressing solidarity with people who are affected by severe Cyclonic storm FANI that hit Odisha on May 3.
The Chief Minister’s Office has issued a directive asking ministers, MLAs, bureaucrats and party members not to throng Naveen Niwas to wish the CM.
Addressing to the people of Odisha the Chief Minister has issued a note in which he has asked his well-wishers to refrain from greeting him at his residence and also not to celebrate his birthday.
The Chief Minister has also expressed his gratitude towards the people of Odisha for showering love and blessings on him. Patnaik has also appreciated BJD’s initiative to organise blood donation camps across Odisha under its ‘Jeevan Bindu’ programme on his birthday tomorrow.
Besides, Patnaik has said that he will feel extremely happy if his well-wishers instead of coming to his residence to greet him, shall visit an orphanage and spend time with the children.
He has also advised parents to take their children and celebrate their special day at orphanages. Since children are the future of the country, their visit to such a place will develop a feeling of love and compassion among them for their fellow beings, Naveen said.
Notably, Cyclone FANI left a trail of destruction after it hit the landmass with high-velocity winds gusting up to a speed of 170-180 kmph in Puri, Khurda, Ganjam, and Gajapati districts.
