Nabarangpur: An accident victim battling for his life was saved by the timely action of Nabarangpur district Collector Dr. Ajit Kumar Mishra on Tuesday.
According to reports, Gobinda Majhi of Dhebaraguda village under Nabarangpur block was knocked by an unidentified vehicle near Sanamasi village while returning to his native village after selling vegetables in a Weekly Haat in Nabarangpur town.
Meanwhile, collector AK Mishra, who was on his way to the district Collectorate for a public hearing, saw the man lying unconscious on the roadside with critical injuries.
Without wasting time, the district Collector alighted from his vehicle and rushed to help the critically injured man. He then called up an auto-rickshaw, placed the injured on a stretcher, with the help of others, and sent him to the nearby CHC for treatment.
Later, the district Collector also asked the local ASHA worker, Raimati Bhatra, to inform the injured man’s family about the mishap.
When asked, doctor Jagannath Das, who treated the injured man, said, “The man’s life was saved as he was rushed to the hospital in time. He is now stable and conscious.” However, he might be shifted to the DHH if his condition deteriorates, the doctor added.
The noble act of the district Collector by helping an accident victim has drawn praise from all walks of life. The family members of the victim have also expressed gratefulness to Dr Mishra for giving a new life to Gobinda.
