New Delhi: The monsoon is likely to hit Kerala coast on June 8, according to the prediction of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday.
The Met Department had earlier said that the onset of monsoon over the Kerala coast will be on June 6. According to IMD sources the monsoon usually makes the onset on June 1.
The IMD said the conditions are likely to be favourable for the advance of the southwest monsoon into some parts of northeastern states in the next four days.
The monsoon rains will bring respite to several parts of the country reeling under extreme heatwave since last few days with the temperature soaring above 47 degree Celsius in some regions.
The IMD has, however, predicted that there is no respite for the heatwave conditions. It is likely to prevail over Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha during the next three to four days.
