Militants gun down former Special Police Officer in J&K

Srinagar: Militants have shot down a former Special Police Officer in a village in broad day light on Wednesday in Pulwama district of South Kashmir.

The deceased was identified as Ashiq Ahmed Nayek, police sources said.

Sources said the ultras are believed to be from Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit. They fired at Nayek while he was walking on a road in Pingleena area.

Some terrorists were neutralised in an encounter on February 18 in that area.

The 25-year-old Nayek had joined the Army’s Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) but left midway in September last year.

He had left the training as he could not cope with the training, the officials said.
