Maoist threat: Polling parties walk for 15 km to reach Baliguda

Kandhamal: Owing to Naxal threat, polling parties walked for over 15 kilometres from two booths in Sirla area of Tumudibandh to Baliguda in Kandhamal district.

According to sources, polling parties of two booths designated in Sirla had to return on foot late last night. The officials left their designated voting centres yesterday after concluding polling and reportedly walked through the forest in the night to reach Baliguda.

However, the polling parties along with the CRPF personnel are yet to reach Baliguda till the last reports came in.

Earlier on April 11, six polling parties had to return on foot from Mahuliapada in Bonda Ghati area to Malkangiri due to the looming threat of Maoist ambush in the area.
