Man trampled to death in Sundargarh forest
Sundargarh: A man was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Ujwalapur forest range in Sundargarh district today while four others had a narrow escape.
The deceased has been identified as Kusha Dandasena.
The incident took place this afternoon when Dandasena along with four other fellow villagers had gone to the deep forest to collect mushroom.
Suddenly, a wild elephant attacked the group who were busy in collecting mushroom. While four others managed to flee the spot, Dandasena was trampled to death by the pachyderm, sources said.
On being informed, Kinjirikela Police reached the spot and seized the body for post-mortem.
Sources said the wild elephant was seen wandering in the forest area for the past few days without any menace. However, with today’s casualty, the residents of the nearby villages are now in a state of panic.
