Man hacked to death by son-in-law in Boudh village, accused held


Boudh: A 72-year-old man was hacked to death at Sarasara village in Boudh district on Sunday, allegedly by his son-in-law over a petty issue, the police said.

The deceased has been identified as Ghundu Barik, and the accused son-in-law has been identified as Pankaj Sethi (45).

According to sources, a verbal duel broke between the duo over shifting of harvested paddy to a safe place in view of the possible rainfall due to cyclonic storm ‘Phethai’.

In a fit of rage, Pankaj attacked Ghundu with an axe, killing the latter on the spot. While the accused son-in-law tried to flee the spot, he was nabbed by locals and handed over to the police.

The police have also seized the body for postmortem and an investigation into the matter is underway, sources said.
