Jharsuguda: The residents of Lakhanpur block in Jharsuguda district have urged the Health Minister to convert the local Community Health Centre into a 50-bed hospital.
A delegation led by Brajrajnagar MLA Kishore Mohanty today met the Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das and submitted a memorandum.
In the memo, the residents apprised the Health Minister that scores of people from the Lakhanpur block depend on the only CHC, which sans adequate number of doctors. While financially sound persons prefer getting treated in other private hospitals, the poor are the worst hit.
Thus, the residents of Lakhanpur have urged the Health Minister to convert the CHC into a 50-bed hospital along with deployment of specialists in Maternity and Child Care, eye, medicine and orthopaedics units.
This apart they have also urged for construction of a new blood bank unit and a post-mortem room in the healthcare unit.
