Ranchi: Team India, who have already taken a 2-0 lead in the three-match series against South Africa, India won the toss and elected to bat first in the third and final Test at the JSCA International Sports Complex in Ranchi.
India have given Ishant Sharma a much-needed rest as Shahbaz Nadeem, a last-minute replacement for Kuldeep Yadav made his debut today.
On the other hand, South Africa made plenty of changes with Heinrich Klaasen, George Linde, and Lungi Ngidi included in the side.
India is in a 2-0 lead in the three-match rubber against the Proteas in Visakhapatnam and Pune and will face-off for one final time in Ranchi.
Former India skipper MS Dhoni, who is on a sabbatical post the 2019 World Cup, will be in attendance at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) stadium when India take on South Africa in the third and final Test in Ranchi starting from today.
The JSCA had invited him to attend the match and the former India captain has accepted the same.
Earlier, BCCI President-elect Sourav Ganguly said that he would discuss the stumper’s future with the national selectors as there have been too many rumours on whether Dhoni will hang his boots or keep playing till the 2020 World T20.
The JSCA has also distributed complimentary passes among the CRPF, army and Jharkhand police personnel to attend the match.
The special initiative is a part of JSCA honouring the men in uniform by handing more 5,000 free tickets for the third and final Test match
