Rourkela: Four Kanwariyas were killed after a train ran over them on Brahmani bridge near Panpost railway station in Odisha’s Rourkela city last night; three others, however, managed to escape.
Shockingly, all the deceased belong to one family and were residents of Bhilai area of Chhattisgarh, including the three escaped the accident.
According to reports, as many as seven devotees had come from neighbouring Chhattisgarh to pour holy water at Vedavyas temple here. The mishap occurred when the seven kanwariyas of a family were walking on the bridge to reach the temple.
A train coming from Panposh station at around 11.30 pm hit the kanwariyas killing four persons on the spot. While three bodies have been recovered, efforts are on by ODRAF personnel to trace out the missing one.
Three others of the family are safe.
