Flood situation Grim In Khurda, 20 villages marooned


Khurda:  Currently, there has been a rise in the water level of Rajua river triggering a flood-like situation in Khurda and Puri district. The water level in Mahanadi river is gradually receding following incessant rains in the upper catchment areas in Odisha.

According to sources, floodwater in Rajua river has submerged 20 villages under five panchayats of the region. Heavy downpour in the last couple of days has caused flash floods in Orabarasingh, Manpur, Raipur, Dhiakhala and Ormi areas of the district.

Locals are facing a tough time owing to disruptions in road communication as roads in some areas in the village were washed away due to heavy rainfall

Meanwhile, the power supply has also been affected due to the downpour.

Reportedly, Puri District has also faced the flood-like situation as many villages under Kanas block have been affected due to incessant rain.
