Elephant herd creates panic in Gajapati village


Gajapati: Panic prevailed in the villages under Gajapati district on the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border as an elephant herd was spotted in the area.

According to sources, the pachyderm herd from the neighbouring state was spotted venturing in the bordering area of Chapara and Dradhapur villages.

While the residents of nearby villages in Gajapati district are in a state of panic, forest department officials are on alert in order to avoid any man-animal conflict, sources said. Officials also stated that they will take measures to protect both the wild and the local residents.
