Elephant calf, mother jumbo rescued from septic tank


Dhenkanal: In an operation in the early hours of Saturday, locals of Talaberana village under Mahabir Road Forest Range in Dhenkanal district rescued an elephant calf along with its mother from a septic tank.

According to sources, villagers spotted the female pachyderm along with its baby trapped in the septic tank and immediately swung into action to help the animals. Locals rescued the calf and the mother jumbo after hours of ordeal.


Following this, both the animals ventured back to the forest.

Locals claimed that a herd of wild pachyderms had ventured into the village last night in search of food when the mother and the baby elephant got separated from the herd and accidentally fell into the septic tank.
