Deogarh: Cease work stir by Deogarh district lawyers’ association over demand of establishment of permanent High Court bench in Western Odisha of Sambalpur has affected the normal life in the region on Thursday.
While all government offices including the Collectorate, tehsil, block, and income tax offices remained closed, shops, markets and other business establishments remained open in the region.
Besides, schools, colleges, and medical services have been exempted from the purview of the strike.
Similarly, the central action committee (CAC) of the Western Odisha Lawyers’ Association has decided to observe a 3-day shutdown of courts, government and private offices in Sambalpur.
Despite repeated pleas of the lawyers’ for the establishment of a permanent bench of Orissa High Court in Western Odisha, their demands are not being taken into consideration. Following this, the lawyers’ association today decided to shut down all government and private offices in the region.
