Country-made liquor seized in Bolangir, five held

Patnagarh: Excise Department sleuths today seized a huge cache of country-made liquor from Rengali village under Patnagarh block and arrested five persons in this connection.

The arrested persons have been identified as Khiradhar Mahananda, Trilochan Tandi, Gouri Tandi, Suresh Dharua and Jogindra Bariha.

Acting on reliable inputs, a special squad comprising Bolangir Excise department and Sambalpur Excise Intelligence sleuths conducted a surprise raid at Rengali village and carried out a search.

During the search, a huge quantity of spurious country-made liquor was seized from the houses of all the arrested persons, the police said. Moreover, the police party also unearthed three quintals of ‘Mahuli’ packets buried in the forest adjacent to the village.

The arrested persons have been forwarded to the court, the excise officials said and added that such seizures will be carried out to curb the sale of spurious liquor in the area
