CM announces cash incentive of Rs 5L each to Dutee, Jauna ahead of World Athletics Championships
Bhubaneswar: Encouraging young athletes of Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced cash incentive of Rs 5 lakh each to Sprinters Dutee Chand and Jauna Murmu ahead of their participation in the World Athletics Championship going to be held from August 4.
Notably, Dutee heaved a sigh of relief recently after Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) suspended the International Association of Athletic Federation’s (IAAF) regulation for hyper androgen in female athletes till September following which Dutee got the freedom to participate in the world championship.
The IAAF offered Dutee a quora entry to take part in Women’s 100m sprint race as the target number of 16 women athletes for 100m event was not reached for the World Athletics Championships.
Earlier, sprinter Jauna Murmu was the first woman from Odisha to have participated in 400m relay in World Athletics Championships.
