BJP gets 4, Congress 2 in by-elections for 10 assembly seats in eight states


New Delhi: In the by-elections held for 10 assembly seats in eight states, BJP is leading with four seats in Delhi Assembly while Congress has won two in Karnataka.

In Delhi Assembly, Rajouri Garden that was dominated by AAP and later was vacant when the AAP legislator Jarnail Singh quit for Punjab elections, has given way to BJP while the party also won in Bandhavgarh (Madhya Pradesh), Bhoranj (Himachal Pradesh), Dhemaji (Assam).

Congress has won the Nanjangud and Gundlupet seats in Karnataka where it is the ruling party. TMC candidate Chandrima Bhattacharjee won in Kanthi Dakshin in West Bengal.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Election Commission ordered fresh elections for 38 booths after the April 9 violence in which 8 people were killed in clashes with security forces in Kashmir.
