Koraput: While schools across Odisha reopened after summer vacation yesterday, Koraput District Education Officer closed at least 90 schools in the district.
According to sources, the schools with student strength less than 10 have been closed and notices to concerned school authorities to transfer their students to nearby schools have been issued.
As per the notification, the students will be immediately transferred to schools with required student strength and the schools should be located within 5 km radius of the previous school.
Besides, students will also be provided with an adequate mode of transportation in order to reach their new schools.
As per sources, at least 93 primary schools in the district have negligible student strength. Among those, 90 schools have student strength that is registered to be less than 10.
