10 killed, 3 hurt as jeep falls into gorge in Shimla
Shimla: At least 10 persons including four women died while three others sustained critical injuries after the vehicle in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla on Saturday.
The incident took place near Sanali, about 3 kilometres away from Kuddu on Tiyuni road in Shimla. The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.
According to sources, the driver of the jeep ferrying around 15 persons lost control over the wheels and skidded off the road due to over speeding and fell into the deep gorge. Ten persons died on the spot while three others were critically injured.
The injured persons, including a child, have been admitted to Rohru hospital, Shimla Superintendent of Police Omapati Jamwal said.
A police team led by Jubbal Station House Officer and Swara police reached the accident site and carried out rescue operation, sources said.
