Youth bludgeoned over suspected sorcery, four held
Keonjhar: Four persons were arrested in connection with murder of a youth over suspicion of sorcery at Pindhapokhari village under Bamberi police limits in Keonjhar district.
The arrested have been identified as Tutu Munda, Sendha Munda, Misra Munda and Durga Munda.
According to sources, the accused persons had allegedly bludgeoned Sudam Munda suspecting him of practising sorcery.
Accused Tutu’s mother had died due to some ailments a few days ago. However, Tutu held Sudam, whom he accused of practising sorcery in the village, responsible for her death, said a source.
Tutu along with his siblings tied Sudam to a tree and beat him up severely with wooden planks, killing him on the spot. They later dumped the body in a nearby nullah.
On being informed, police reached the village last night and recovered the body.
Based on the statements of the villagers, the cops arrested Tutu and three others for their alleged involvement in the crime.
