World Champion Nico Rosberg announces shocking retirement just 5 days after winning title
Vienna: Germany racer and current World Champion Nico Rosberg on Friday shocked motorsport world by announcing his sudden retirement from Formula One racing just five days after winning his maiden world title.
Rosberg 31 won the title by defeating his teammate and three times former World Champion Lewis Hamilton in the very last race of the 2016 season five days ago at Abu Dhabi GP.
The announcement came as a shock revelation to the entire motorsports fraternity before the annual FIA awards ceremony in Vienna.
Coming into the last race Nico needed to be on podium to clinch the title irrespective of the fact where his rival and teammate Hamilton finishes. And just like that from start to finish Nico remained well fixated in second position to bag the most coveted motor sports title in the world as only the third german to do so after legendary Miachel Schumacher and Sebastain Vettel.
Issuing a statement thorough his social post Rosberg said since 25 years it was his dream to world champion and now that he has done it through sacrifices, hard work he feels like on top of mountain.
Speaking how hard it was to win the title Rosberg said he pushed like crazy each and every bit of it and after two years of disappointments it really fuelled up his motivation.
