Woman loses leg, lover hurt as train hits them in Balasore

Balasore: A woman lost her leg while her paramour sustained critical injuries after a train hit them at Rajghat railway station in Balasore district today.

The injured persons are identified as Bharati Sahu of Ramachandrapur village under Jaleswar police limits and Deepak Sahu of nearby Bantuli village.

According to sources, the duo was crossing the railway track this morning when a train hit them. While Bharti lost her leg in the mishap, Deepak sustained grievous injuries.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) rescued the duo in a critical state and rushed them to Basta community health centre. They were later shifted to the Balasore district headquarters hospital.

According to sources, Bharati, who is married to one Kartikeswar Sahu, had an extra-marital affair with Deepak. Bharati had been missing since November 22 and her husband and family members had filed a complaint at Jaleswar police station, sources said.
