Woman killed, 30 hurt in separate road mishaps


Bhubaneswar/Angul: A woman was killed while 30 others were injured in two separate road accidents in the state capital and Angul district.

In the first instance, a woman was killed after being hit by a car near Naka Gate in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday morning. The identity of the deceased was not ascertained immediately.

Following the mishap, irate locals blocked Kalinga Studio-Khandagiri road demanding compensation for the family of the deceased.

In another incident, 30 passengers were injured after the bus in which they were travelling in collided with a truck on National Highway 149 near Gotamara under Banarpal police limits in Angul district last night.

According to sources, the bus carrying around 60 passengers was heading to Rourkela for a picnic and visit various tourist destinations in the steel city.

Meanwhile, the driver lost control and bus collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction near Gotamara. The passengers were rescued and rushed to Angul district headquarters hospital.
