Woman constable attacked by house owner’s son, succumbs in Burla hospital
Sambalpur: The woman constable, who was critical after being attacked by her landlord’s son on September 24, succumbed to her injuries at VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla today.
The deceased, identified as Rashmirekha Dixit of Sambalpur Town police station, and her sister were attacked by her landlord’s son Sapan Chakraborty at Danipalli village under Ainthapali police limits in the district.
They were rushed to VIMSAR in a critical condition and were undergoing treatment since then.
According to reports, the Rashmirekha were staying in a rented house at Kulatapada area along with her sister. The house owner’s son Sapan Chakraborty had hacked them with a sharp weapon injuring them critically.
The deceased constable’s sister Gitirekha had earlier told the media that the Sapan attacked them accusing of misbehaving with their relatives who had came to visit his house on Viswakarma Puja.
Though the exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained the police have arrested the accused and an investigation into the incident is still underway.
