Wildlife poaching gang busted in Balasore, two held

Balasore: Forest department officials today busted a wildlife poaching gang with the arrest of two poachers along with the seizure of a deer hide and antlers.

The accused poachers have been identified as Leba Murmu and Panda Marndi.

Acting on reliable inputs, the forest personnel conducted a raid at a house in Bhaliaposhi village under Kuldiha sanctuary range in Nilagiri of Balasore district this morning and apprehended two poachers.

During the raid, officials also seized a deer hide, antlers, and three guns from the spot.

While a case under relevant Sections has been registered against the accused duo, they will soon be forwarded to court, officials said, adding that further probe is on to ascertain the involvement of other persons in the wildlife poaching gang.
