Pune: Virat Kohli’s 107-run knock went in vain West Indies defeated India by 43-run in the third match of the five-match ODI series at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Saturday.
Chasing a victory target of 284 runs, Kohli’s 107 of 119 balls kept India in the race. However, the batting order ran out of steam after the batting partners were dismissed by Marlon Samuels. Eventually, India bundled out for 240.
Kohli was the top-scorer for India as he slammed his 38th ODI hundred and third successive in the series. He became the first Indian to achieve the feat.
Earlier, with the return of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah, a confident Team India restricted the Windies to 283/9 in 50 overs, with Kuldeep Yadav (2/52) and Jasprit Bumrah (4/35) being the pick of the bowlers.
With this victory, West Indies leveled the five-match series 1-1.
