Water Level In Hirakud Dam Rises Following Incessant Rains

Sambalpur: The water level of the Hirakud dam reservoir has been increasing following incessant rain in the district for the last two days.

As per sources, the water level in the reservoir stood at 621.23 feet against the storage capacity of 630. Around 6000 cusecs water is being released per second while 1 lakh 90 thousand cusecs water is now entering the dam every second. Water flow at Mundali has been recorded at 92,600 cusecs.

The Regional Meteorological Centre here today issued heavy rainfall warning for seven Odisha districts- Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Boudh and Puri.

On the other hand, another low pressure is likely to form over Northwest Bay of Bengal by August 28 and several parts of the State will experience an increase in rainfall activity.
