Deogarh: Residents of Chapabahal village under Barkot block in Deogarh district locked up the upper primary school here on Tuesday demanding the transfer of a schoolteacher and cancellation of the transfer of another.
According to sources, the villagers locked the school gate demanding the immediate transfer of newly-appointed teacher Paulasti Kishan, alleging that he keeps himself engaged in personal work during school hours and skipping classes regularly.
They also demanded to revoke the transfer order of a teacher named, Narendranath Jena, who has been posted somewhere else.
Earlier, the villagers had approached the block education officer (BEO), however, no action has been taken, it is alleged.
Today morning, scores of villagers led by Hrishikesh Sahu, president of the school management committee, locked the main gate of the school.
They also threatened to keep the classrooms locked until a solution is found. The villagers were adamant on their demand that Jena should again be posted in the school and the irregular teacher transferred, sources added.
