Vigilance arrests Lathikata tehsildar, retired Revenue Supervisor
Angul: The officers of Cuttack Vigilance cell on Wednesday arrested Lathikata tehsildar of Sundergarh district on charges of possessing unaccounted money and seized Rs 5,54,900 from his possession.
Acting on a tip-off, a special team of Cuttack Vigilance cell last night intercepted Lathikata tehsildar Bijaya Kumar Behera when he was on his way to paternal house in Chattrapur in Ganjam district. The Vigilance sleuths intercepted his car at Pallahara in Angul district and conducted a search operation.
A sum of Rs 5,54,900 was seized from his possession and Rs 1,98,000 from his associate Pramod Kumar Beuria, a retired Revenue Supervisor of Lathikata Tehsil, who was travelling with Behera during the raid.
While the anti-corruption team arrested Behera, his associate Beuria was detained for further interrogation.
Raids were being conducted on Behera’s office and official residence at Lathikata, paternal house in Chhatrapur and house of his in-laws.
