Nainital : The Uttarakhand High Court has directed renowned Yoga guru Ramdev’s company to share its profits with local people.

In what is seen as a first-of-its-kind order, the court  in its direction has said that the company run by Yoga guru Ramdev to share a percentage of its profits with local farmers and communities.

The  pronouncement of the verdict has come after rejection of  a petition of Divya Pharmacy against the Uttarakhand Biodiversity Board (UBB).

The court has ordered the pharmacy to share Rs 2 crore out of its Rs 421-crore profit with the farmers.

Earlier the UBB had directed the pharmacy to share the amount of profit with the farmers and local communities in accordance with the Biological Diversity Act.

The pharmacy had claimed that the UBB neither has the powers nor jurisdiction to pass such an order.
