Bhubaneswar: Utkal University Vice-Chancellor Soumendra Mohan Patnaik along with his other colleagues today staged a sit-in in front of his office protesting the unrest and violence on campus.
The strike began in the morning today and will continue until 8 pm. The agitation came a day after a group of students gheraoed him along with PG Council chairman demanding students’ union polls, which was cancelled on September 18 following the pre-poll violence.
Varsity authorities had cancelled the election and declared sine die after repeated violent activities on campus.
The university revoked the closure order and reopened the campus on Monday for students after 20 days.
