Sambalpur: Police on Friday arrested two persons in connection with a mobile theft case and recovered 14 cellphones from their possession.
The arrested were identified as Ashok Mahanand alias Bulu (21) of Bhutapada in Dhanupali police limits and Chinmaya Ghosh (19) of Danibandha Saliabagicha under Town police limits in Sambalpur district.
The arrests were made following the complaint of Bhaktabandhu Sahu of Kuhibahal under Rampur police limits of Subarnapur district. Sahu complained that at about 11 pm on August 16 he was going to Ashoka Talkies Chowk when the accused duo snatched away a Redmi phone worth Rs 15,000 from him.
On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered. During the investigation, the police nabbed the two accused and recovered the stolen Redmi mobile along with 13 other stolen mobile phones. Besides, Rs 1,905 was also seized from their possession. They will be produced in court tomorrow, police said.
