Two SOG jawans injured in IED blast


Nuapada: In yet another violence activity led by Maoists, two Special Operation Group (SOG) jawans sustained minor injuries following an IED blast during an exchange of fire with the Maoists in Badjhola forest inside Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary in the district early on Sunday.

The injured SOG jawans have been identified as Samit Lama and Prahallad Kulakar. They have been admitted to Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital.

Some Maoists are also suspected to have sustained injuries in the encounter. The SOG jawans have also seized Maoist materials.

Speaking to media, Nuapada SP Smit P Parmar said that area domination was underway for the last two days with several SOG teams combing Patdhara and Badjhola areas.

Meanwhile, appearance of Maoist posters spread panic fresh Maoist posters at Malijuang village in Lanjigarh block of Kalahandi district has sparked off panic among the locals and the contractors. The posters were found pasted on trees on Saturday. The posters were issued in the name of Umakanta, secretary of Bansadhara-Ghumsar- Nagavali division of CPM (Maoist).
