Two mining mafia held in Keonjhar, trucks seized

Keonjhar: Police claimed to have busted a gang involved in illegal extraction of mines and arrested two members last night near Arjunalodha mines under Belani police limits in Barbil of Keonjhar district.

The arrested were identified as Saroj Mohanty of Jaganga and Harish Chandra Sitanami of Raida.

Acting on a tip-off about the illegal mining, Belani police intercepted two mineral ore-laden trucks near Arjunalodha mines yesterday night.

The police team seized Manganese and Iron ores from the trucks and nabbed the two accused. However, three other members of the mafia gang managed to escape.

An investigation is underway and a manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding mining mafia, the police said.
