Two militants, one jawan killed in gunfight in J&K’s Baramulla

Srinagar: At least two militants and an Army jawan were killed following a gunfight that broke out between the ultras and the security personnel in Sopore area of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir today, informed Srinagar-based Defence Spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia.

The identity and group affiliation of the slain militants is being ascertained, added the official.

According to available information, acting on reliable inputs about the presence of militants in the area, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Pazalpora village of Dangiwacha Sopore in the north Kashmir district this morning.

The search operation turned into an encounter after the militants fired upon the search party of the forces, who also fired in retaliation.

The operation in Sopore is underway and further details are awaited, added Colonel Kalia.
