Khurda/Bhadrak: At least two persons were killed while 27 others sustained grievous injuries in two separate road mishaps in Khurda and Bhadrak districts on Wednesday.
In a tragic mishap, two persons were killed and two others were injured as a mini truck rammed a truck on the rear at Tangi-Chandapur bypass road in Khurda district early this morning.
The deceased were identified as Aparti Biswal and Jitendra Pradhan of Kuhudi village under Tangi police limits of Khurda district.
According to sources, the mishap occurred when a mini-truck dashed into the rear of a truck parked on the roadside of NH-16 near Chandpur bypass killing the two and leaving two others injured.
While the injured were admitted to the Tangi hospital for treatment, police reached the spot and seized the bodies including the mangled vehicle.
In another road mishap in Bhadrak district, at least 25 passengers sustained injuries as the bus, in which they were travelling, collided head-on with a truck at Karanpali Kuamara Chhak under Chandbali police limits in Bhadhrak district.
Sources said the accident took place when a private bus, ‘Jugun’, carrying passengers was en route to Cuttack from Dhamra.
While all the injured passengers were initially rushed to Basudevpur hospital, four of them were later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, as their health condition deteriorated.
Police have reached the spot and a probe into the incident is underway, sources said.
