Two govt engineers given compulsory retirement for corruption

Bhubaneswar: Acting tough against corrupt officials, Odisha government today ordered compulsory retirement of two engineers from their services.

The officers sent on compulsory retirement are Prana Krushna Prasad, Executive Engineer at Angul Rural Works Quality Control Division; and Umesh Chandra Tripathy, Deputy Executive Engineer presently working in Tusra (R&B) sub-division-1 Sonepur under Works Department.

As per reports, the duo was found to be involved in corruption.

Vigilance sleuths had arrested Prana Krushna net twice– first in 2015 and then in 2018. He has been stated to be one of the most inefficient and corrupt officers in the Rural Works Department.

Similarly, Tripathy was found to be involved in four Vigilance cases during his service in Koraput. He was accused of showing undue official favour to the contractors and misappropriating public money by recording inflated measurements.

Earlier in the day, a Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) was given compulsory retirement for corruption.
