Two dreaded criminals injured in police firing in Ganjam

Berhampur: Two dreaded criminals sustained bullet injuries following an encounter with the police in Kanamana village under Chamakhandi police limits of Berhampur in Ganjam district in the wee hours today. Cops also seized two pistols, four live bullets, Rs 1.5 lakh cash and a car from their possession.

The injured duo has been identified as Biswajit Barik alias Muna of Kaipadar village in Khurda district and Manoj Sahu of Polsara area in Ganjam district.

Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted the duo near Kanamana village at around 2 am following which the duo opened fire at the police in an attempt to flee the area.

in retaliation firing, both the criminals sustained injuries on their right legs and were later nabbed by the cops. They were admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

According to police reports, both of them were allegedly involved in the Chamakhandi petrol pump robbery case and were absconding fearing arrest since the incident.

The duo was also involved in other criminal activities in other parts of the district, the police added.
