Two CISF jawans suspended for thrashing students


Jajpur: Two CISF jawans accused of thrashing students and teachers of a residential school in Kalinga Nagar of the district on Sunday were suspended from duty on Wednesday.

The two jawans, deployed as security guards at a steel plant here, faced the action for allegedly barging into the premises of Gobarghati Residential School in Kalinga Nagar and beating up 33 students along with two teachers.

The incident triggered tension in the area as school students along with locals staged dharna in front of the main gate of the steel plant and blocked the Chandikhole-Duburi NH-200 on Monday demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

Meanwhile, the CISF camp has been shifted to Paradip. The Gobarghati Residential School will also be shifted from the place after identification of land informed the Jajpur district Collector.
