Twin blasts killed 40 people in Syrian capital Damascus


Damascus/Syria: Two explosions killed at least 40 people near religious shrines frequented by Shiite pilgrims in the Syrian capital Damascus.

Syria State TV aired a video footage of the scene showing blood-stained streets and damaged buses in a parking are, apparently where the explosions went off near Bab Saghir cemetery. The cemetery is one of Syria’s most ancient and is where many prominent religious figured were buried.

However Britain-based observatory for Human rights, opposed over the figures of people killed, said at least 44 people were killed in the explosions that targeted buses those arrived near the cemetery.

Last year, a similar attack had been witnessed in the capital which was later claimed by the ISIS.
