Three students critically-ill in Malkangiri residential school

Malkangiri: As many as 10 children were taken ill among which three are critically ill at Silakota Sevashram (residential school), under Padia block in Malkangiri district on Tuesday.

Sources said despite being aware of the issue the ailing children were not shifted to nearby Bapanpalli health centre neither by the principal nor the matron of the shelter home.

The critically-ill children, identified as Sudhir Kunjami, Madhu Pajam and Sagarika Sedhi are still at Silakota hostel, said a source. On the 11th of every month a medical team visits the hostel but this month the doctors’ team failed to pay a visit to the residential school, the source added.

According to available information, only three classrooms are available for a total of eight classes. During the incident principal, Ravinarayan Palei was absent and Ramachandra Madhi was principal-in-charge.

This present scenario shows the negligence of the caretakers of the school while the inmates bear the brunt.
