Three militants, one civilian killed, 30 hurt in Kulgam encounter
Srinagar: Three militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Laroo area of Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Sunday. One civilian was also killed after an explosive went off at the spot.
On the other hand, around 30 people suffered injuries when clashes broke out between locals and forces while the exchange of fire was underway. Besides one security personnel was also injured in the clash.
Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh told reporters here, “The encounter concluded just now and I have been told that three terrorists were neutralised in it. The operation is being winded up. The identities (of the terrorists) are yet to be ascertained. We will shortly give out the details. There are no casualties from the police side.”
According to the police, the locals were asked not to visit the encounter site but they gathered there and a violent clash erupted. Meanwhile, an explosive planted by the terrorist went off killing one civilian. The injured persons have been admitted to a local health centre.
This is the second encounter in the last 12 hours after a gunbattle took place in Pulwama district on Saturday evening.
The latest encounter comes two days after two terrorists were gunned down when they tried to attack the police in the Kralhaar area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir.
The police had recovered two AK-47 rifles with Under Barrel Grenade Launcher, three grenades, two Chinese pistols and other weapons from their possession.
